📖 General Library Use

  • How do I register for library access as a student, lecturer, or staff member? Users need to register the membership upon enrollment at the library counter.
  • What are the library’s operating hours during the semester and breaks? Regular semester hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30AM – 6:00PM while Saturday, 9:00AM – 1:00PM
  • Can I borrow books from other SEGi campuses? Yes. Inter-campus is available upon request. Users must submit a requisition through library service counter.
  • How do I find specific books, journals, or articles using the library catalog? Use the Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC) via the library website. You can search by title, author, ISBN or keyword.

📚 Borrowing & Returns

  • How many items can I borrow, and for how long? Students may borrow up to 5 items for 2 weeks.
  • What are the overdue fines and penalties? Overdue fines are RM1.00 per day per item. Outstanding fines may result in suspension of borrowing privileges.
  • How do I renew borrowed items online? Log in to your library account via the portal, service counter or renew by email to [email protected]
  • What should I do if I lose or damage a library item? Report the issue immediately. Replacement cost will be based on the current market value.

💻 Digital & Remote Access

  • How do I access eBooks and online databases from home? Log in via the library website or contact library staff.
  • Which digital platforms or databases are available to me? Users have access to academic databases including ProQuest Central, EBSCOhost, JSTOR, Taylor & Francis and SEGi ebook portal. Ask our library service counter or email us.
  • Is VPN required for off-campus access? VPN is not required for most resources.
  • What do I do if a digital resource link isn’t working? Try clearing your browser cache and refresh the page. If the issue persists, contact the library help desk with the URL and error details.

🧑‍🏫 Support for Teaching & Learning

  • Can lecturers request teaching materials or reading lists to be added? Yes. Requests can be submitted through emailed to the acquisition librarian. Please provide ISBN, publisher details, and course codes.
  • How do I recommend a book or journal for purchase? Email to the library email address. All recommendations will be reviewed based on curriculum alignment and budget approvals.
  • Are orientation sessions or workshops available for new users? Yes. The library conducts user orientations at the start of every semester, plus ad hoc workshops on referencing, database use, and citation tools.
  • How can staff schedule training on using library resources? Staff can email to library email address to arrange one-on-one or group training. Include your preferred date, topic, and participant count.

🏛️ Facilities & Services

  • How do I book discussion rooms or multimedia spaces? Booking is available at the service counter. Please note maximum capacity limits and time slots.
  • Is printing, scanning, or photocopying available? Yes. Self-service kiosks are available in designated library zones
  • Are group study sessions allowed in the library? Yes, in designated discussion rooms or collaborative zones. Please maintain noise levels and respect quiet zones.

  • How do I request help finding resources for an assignment or research? You may email or visit the Reference Desk during service hours. Please provide your topic and course name for tailored support.
  • Can I get guidance on citation tools like EndNote or Mendeley? Yes. The library provides guides and video tutorials for citation managers
